The annual Christmas Festival is almost here and Ashley Kirby has been put in charge of decorating the church's gym for the festivities. Ashley has fond memories of the Winterbourne Christmas Festival and even fonder memories of Mark Winter, the heir to the Winterbourne estate. So when she discovers that Mark has returned after a long ten year absence, she’s determined to recapture some of that old magic, as well as the man she loved and lost.

Mark Winter was forced to leave Winterbourne ten years ago after his grandfather died. If he had his way, he would have run away with the beautiful preacher’s daughter he had loved ever since they had kissed under the mistletoe one Christmas Eve long ago. But it wasn’t meant to be. Ashley was his best friend’s girl, off-limits, unattainable and, he was pretty sure, now married to the new preacher.
So he’s returned home with three goals in mind sell Winterbourne, stay far away from Ashley as he possibly can, and then leave as quickly as possible. Preferably before Christmas.
There’s just one problem with his plan.
Ashley has a plan of her own and she's not about to let Mark go.

I love Christmas books, and even though I wasn't familiar with this author, the beautiful cover on The Christmas Carousel, pulled me right in. I'm so glad I took a chance and read it, it's a wonderful surprise gem that had me smiling throughout.The Christmas Carousel is the most charming and witty second chance holiday love story I have read in quite a while. Mark and Ashley are attracted to each other when they are growing up, but for a variety of reasons and through a comedy of errors they end up out of communication for years. They become reacquainted again and all the fun and hilarious misunderstandings begin leading to a sigh-worthy satisfying conclusion.
I enjoyed the story so much when I finished it, I looked up the author Annabel Allen's other books and was shocked to find none. This is her first novella?! Her writing flowed so well, I was sure she was a veteran author with other works to her credit. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for anything else with her name on it. A great holiday read!!!

This IS a sweet, funny Christmas love story. And a bit sad in places. But very enjoyable. I had a warm feeling when I finished. That's what I look for in a good read.
Absolutely delightful story! I loved the main characters, even if their misunderstandings were frustrating! Their chemistry and their moments together were amazing. I couldn't wait until the protagonists cleared things up and reached their happy ending. Totally recommended for a short, easy, clean and fluffy read.
Escapist short fiction for the holiday season. Lots of suspension of disbelief required, but I enjoyed the premise. Some minor editing needed. The perfect protagonists are kept apart the whole story by a misunderstanding, and get together in the romantic ending. Names are a bit too common to be memorable. Light reading.
Always enjoy reading of a love that hadn’t died in ten years. Memories of that time, the happiness of a festival, all comes back with. Mark coming back in town. Is it to restore, or sell the old house, and maybe the love from that time. Two people have an agenda, is it the same one, Enjoyable to read.
This is a sweet and humorous Christmas romance. The author does a good job of constantly misleading poor Mark Winter, leaving him believing that Ashley is the preachers' wife. Yup, now that got your attention, didn't it! No spoiler, either, as the reader knows perfectly well from the start that this misunderstanding is occurring. The comedy comes as Mark is "led" further and further down this line of thinking. Very well done. On a technical basis, there are several copy edit errors. But while I noticed each one, my mind quickly made the corrections and moved on, because the story itself is captivating. Highly entertaining and just right for the holiday season.
This was a quick read and a lot of fun to follow through the twists and turns of the plot. Ashley and Mark were drawn to each other as teenagers. Years later, Mark returns to see if he has any chance of reconnecting with Ashley. If she married to Eric, another teenager who was a close friend to both Ashley and Mark? Should Mark sell his family home in the town and leave forever? For decades that home that served as the site of the town's Christmas festival. But it's been abandoned for the 10 years Mark has been away. Can the towns have one last Festival at the property before it is sold? These are all questions that are eventually answered, and getting to the answers is the great fun of this book. If you like light Hallmark movies, you will love this book.
